"They are Obits. that were from clippings that were copied and passed
down through the family. I know they originated in Oklahoma but I
don't have the name of the newspaper on them....would say from a
newspaper in Alva, OK but I may be wrong."
Barbara Ellen Gray
Barbara Ellen Gray was born near Canton, Stark County, Ohio, November
5, 1838, Died May 6, 1928 at Spring Valley, Arkansas, age 91 years, 6
months and 1 day. She was married to Charles Wesley Gray, in March
1855 in Canton, Ohio. In 1867 they moved to Dade County, Missouri and
in 1897 they came to Oklahoma, locating on a farm near Capron,
Oklahoma. It was while there that Mr. Gray preceded his wife in death
Sept. 16, 1911. To this union were born five sons, and three
daughters, of which three sons and two daughters are still living.
Elmer Gray of Capron, Oklahoma, George N. Gray of Grand Junction,
Colo. and Arthur Gray of Alva, Oklahoma, Mrs. Mary E. Evins of Spring
Valley, Ark., and Mrs. Julia Rambo of claremont, California. Mrs.
Gray was converted at an early age in life and united with the United
Brethern Church of which she always was a faithful, devoted member.
Her Christian life was an inspiration to all. She leaves three sons,
two daughters, twenty-five granchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Charles Wardell of Alva,
assisted by Rev. T.C. Coover, pastor of the Methodist Church at
Capron. As a part of the services, Aurthur Gray paid a loving tribute
to the life and character of his mother. Interment was in the Capron
Cemetery.

Mr. Schmachtenberger was married on the 22nd of October, 1885, to Miss Theodosia Freed, of West township, Columbiana county, the daughter of Peter and Sarah (Brown) Freed, the father a leading farmer and prominent citizen of that part of the state. Eight children have been born of this union, namely: Jacob W., John Franklin, Arthur F., William E., Harry D., and Clyde F., all living, one who died at the age of five years, and Hazel, who died at the age of one and one-half years.
This is the child who died at 5 years of age.
